Van Duijn Transport & Coldstore
Van Duijn has been a trusted partner to fresh produce companies since 1946. From its two locations in De Lier and Hansweert, which feature climate-controlled storage, the company processes numerous orders for storage and transportation every day. DatAction recently supplied new barcode-scanning hardware and integrated it with Boltrics’ WMS.
The question
Van Duijn uses Boltrics’ WMS. At the De Lier and Hansweert locations, forklifts are used to handle incoming and outgoing goods. The forklifts were equipped with outdated barcode-scanning hardware. To prevent downtime and ensure a future-proof and safe operating environment, a replacement process was initiated.
The Solution
Van Duijn opted for a combination of a Honeywell vehicle-mount computer and a Zebra auto-range barcode scanner. They didn’t make this decision lightly. DatAction delivered a proof of concept fully configured with Boltrics for one of the forklifts. This gave the customer ample opportunity to test the system in a real-world setting. “This is how DatAction set itself apart,” confirms Strijdhorst. “This approach, combined with their sound advice, gave us the confidence to choose DatAction as our partner.”
The result
By choosing the latest generation of vehicle-mounted computers, Van Duijn is up to date and ready for the future.
Significant progress has also been made in terms of ergonomics and comfort. The warehouse employees have noticed this. “They find the scanners more comfortable to use, and they work considerably better than the old ones,” says Strijdhorst. “We’ve also noticed that the new products are more stable, the screen is easier to read, there are no more malfunctions, and the system as a whole functions better within the network.”
”"Here in the Westland, we know everything there is to know about apples and pears, but for matters like this, we rely on the specialists." "Our extensive experience with Boltrics and DatAction's expertise were the deciding factors."
