Voice picking is one of the most revolutionary changes in order fulfillment over the past decade, offering higher productivity and accuracy, significant bottom-line savings, numerous benefits for warehouse workers, and increased flexibility.

When a warehouse worker uses a barcode scanner, accuracy is relatively good. However, productivity remains an ongoing issue. People don’t often think about it, but using a barcode scanner for picking is a time-consuming process: reading the next location, moving to that spot, scanning the location, reading the quantity on the screen, freeing up your hands, and only then performing the task. All of these steps can be done faster and more easily with voice technology.

Working with paper orders is very time-consuming and cumbersome (and therefore costs a fortune). Feedback is very slow and prone to errors. After all, completed lines are often crossed out. As a result, the task takes up an (unnecessary) amount of time. Subsequently, the data from the list—which is often sloppily written—must be entered into the WMS by another person in order to update the inventory correctly. Yet another significant waste of resources.
