RFID
RFID, Radio Frequency Identification in full, enables you to keep an overview at any time. Technology that uses radio signals identifies and locates people or objects from a distance. Lightning fast and without optical scanning!
RFID can be used in various sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, retail, E-commerce and ports.
How does RFID work?
The data is stored on a tiny chip, which can be in a label or in a reusable housing. An electromagnetic reader reads the data on the chip via radio waves. The information can be presented on a map and then consulted on any fixed or mobile screen.
One of the biggest advantages is that physical contact is no longer necessary with the product on which the tag is attached. Active RFID tags, which emit signals autonomously, can even be read from a great distance.
What are the benefits of RFID?
Contactless process
The data is sent from the transponder to the reading device and resp. transferred from the writing device to the transponder. Neither visual contact nor physical contact is necessary. The radio signals can penetrate different materials. This not only leads to faster detection of the goods, but also has the advantage that inaccessible parts can be reached more easily.
Fast data exchange
The wireless transfer of data between sender and receiver takes place almost without delays.
Bulk detection
RFID readers can read multiple RFID tags in large quantities at the same time. In theory, only one scanning process is then required to detect all products on a pallet or transport container.
Virtually flawless
RFID labels achieve a reading result of almost 100%. RFID systems offer extra security: they can recognize incorrect tags and exclude them.
Security thanks to encryption
Even when using plain text, the data can be transferred encrypted. This also makes access control possible.
Insensitive to external factors
Extreme environmental conditions, such as large temperature fluctuations, heat, cold or moisture are no problem for RFID tags. Products that are later subjected to special after-treatments or cleaning processes can also be reliably identified with RFID.
Reusable
In contrast to classic printed barcodes, the data on an RFID chip can always be changed or supplemented afterwards.
Invisible
The miniscule RFID transponders can be integrated unobtrusively into most labels.
